A very time-consuming costume - it takes me 2 hours to completely paint myself, apply makeup and get into the jumpsuit!
BODYPAINTS: I use standard water-based Snazaroo facepaint - available from most fancy dress and costume shops, (or Webberley's art supplies in my case!) At £3.50 a pot it's cheap, fast and easy to apply. Washes straight off with a little soap.
To apply, spray water onto the paint and apply it with a round facepaint sponge (the more paint that is on the sponge, the better). Apply a few drops of hair conditioner into a spray bottle of warm water - use this to moisten the facepaint. The conditioner helps the paint go on smoother. Apply to the skin in circular motions to avoid streaks.
MY KIT:

* Surgical tape and scissors - I cut this into circular shapes to attach onto my nipples, and then apply the paint over the top of the tape. This gives a sort of 'Barbie Doll' effect and ensures the nipples are not so visible.
This isn't really the character for modest people - but I feel this is needed for a tiny bit of extra coverage, especially at events where children will be present.
* Water spray bottle (containing a tiny amount of hair conditioner as described above)
* Face painting sponges.
* Lime Snazaroo - I tend to use 1 and a half of these for a single Oola appearance. The brush is used for finer application in between my toes.
* Lilac Snazaroo - this is applied as eyeshadow using a brush to paint it on.
* Hairspray - Although the facepaint dries in a few minutes, I apply a quick layer of hairspray to fix the paint too. This helps it last a little longer before needing any touch-ups. You can use proper facepaint fixatives, but the contents are basically the same as hairspray so I don't see the point in spending more money on it!
THE HEAD TAILS: Made by the wonderful Jo of GravityXero Clubwear as a custom creation.
Created using foam, which is covered in latex. The tails are hollow and lightweight, and attached to the leather head piece. A leather strap with buckle attaches underneath the chin. The medallian is made from moulding Fymo, which was baked and then painted. The ear buds are also made from Fymo and were moulded around a lemon juicer! Her progress:

I applied a light coat of Lime Snazaroo facepaint to the headtails using a facepaint sponge so they were as close a match to my skin (when painted) as possible. They were then sprayed with fixative so the paint did not smudge:

I also attached an extra 'flap' of leather to the neck of the head piece... which helped to cover some of my hair.

I also inserted some toy stuffing into the base of the tails (just above my head), this gave them a little extra lift and a more natural look, as they appeared slightly deflated otherwise.

THE COSTUME: Net jumpsuit and ropes also made by Jo of GravityXero Clubwear
Jo used heavy duty black fishing net rather than fishnet - fishnet would have been too clingy and rips easily.
The rope pieces are lengths of black bodage rope from EBay! They are simply tied in place at the waist, thighs, and calves. The underpants section is made from leather.

THE COLLAR: Purchased from Cathouse Clothing... look for 'Steel O-Ring Collar' priced at £20

The collar has a soft rubber backing for comfort and simply fastens with a buckle.
For the rope, I purchased some 'Sirdar Extra Chunky' black wool from my local fabric store.

I then braided together 12 long lengths of the wool to create a single thick piece which looks like rope. I sealed the end with glue to stop it fraying and coming undone.
SHOES:
Oola wears very strappy, flat black sandles. I was very lucky to find an almost idential pair in my size on EBay:
