1. When performing with snakes, I must have a dance space that is at least 3-5 feet away from the audience.
If it is not possible for me to inspect the performance area prior to a performance – please provide as much information as possible (stage area, entrance/exit points, dressing room location etc)
2. Wherever possible I will give the client a choice of snake used. However, I may need to choose to a different snake on some occasions. Please bare in mind that my snakes are animals (and not props), therefore they sometimes have ‘off’ days just like people – especially when in slough or close to shedding their skin.
3. Before, during and after a performance, no members of the audience are permitted to approach me whilst I am handling my snakes.
4. An adequate, private dressing room space will be provided prior to the performance to allow snakes time to acclimate to the surroundings. A plug socket will be required to provide heating for the snake. If one is not available please notify me as early as possible so I can pack sufficient portable heat pads.
5. When performing with snakes, the dance space must be warm and away from open doors, windows, air conditioners, etc.
Music should not be too loud, and bass levels should temporarily be lowered to avoid vibrations stressing the snake.
6. I will not perform outdoors with snakes during winter months or during poor weather conditions.
7. If I deem the environment unsafe for my snake; or if the snake is unhappy and uncooperative I am entitled to withdraw the service. Alternative dance routines will always be offered as a replacement act (solo dance, Isis wings, fan veils, or fire dance if suitable)
In this case, the client will still be responsible for paying the full agreed amount.
8. A member of security or chaperone must be provided for snake walkabouts in nightclubs.
If the venue is expected to be filled with smoke, flashing lights, and loud music it is not suitable for a snake act.
Dance routines and stage acts can be performed in clubs with a dedicated stage area, but walkabouts are generally better suited to special events, dances, or balls.
9. While my snakes are all tame and friendly, they are still wild animals. Clients should be aware of this. Walkabout performances are recommended early during the event to avoid overly intoxicated guests.
10. Depending on time restrictions, and the snake’s temperament, I will allow guests to touch snakes and ask questions after my performances. I will explain the proper ways to approach the snake and pose for photos with us. Guests will not be permitted to hold the snake alone.
These guidelines and rules must be respected by ALL guests and event/venue staff.
Whilst I am fully insured as a member of Equity (Public Liability cover for up to £10,000,000) and covered by an Animal Performance Licence… these rules are in place to ensure the well-being of not only my animals, but also your guests and the reputation of your event or venue.
